FIREARMS RANGE


** There will be NO USE of the range if there are workers or farming equipment in the fields adjoining the firing range. **


The ROA Hunt Club has setup a shooting range, at the Keener property, for members and associate members only.


Guests are not allowed to use the range.

A RSO (Range Safety Officer) will be mandatory at every firearms range day where there are multiple people on the range!



Range Open


The range will be open during the dates listed below.


January 2nd – August 31st



Requirements

A. Members using the range must sign in and out at the clubhouse, and then also on Facebook.

B. The range can be used on workdays after all work is completed.


Range Rules

1. Safety First.
2. Alcohol and Drugs are not permitted.
3. No horseplay on the range.
4. Eyes and ear protection must be worn while the range is hot.
5. Know your gun and how to use it.
6. Know your Ammunition and the velocity it is traveling to adhere to the minimum distances of safe shooting on steel targets. (See Below)
7. Treat all firearms as if they are loaded.
8. Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
9. Finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
10. All firearms on the bench are required to have an open action and be unloaded, until they are ready to be used.
11. Armor Piercing, Steel Core, Green Tip, and Tracer rounds are NOT allowed.
12. No rapid fire or mag dumps.
13. Any sort of explosives or exploding targets are NOT allowed.
14. Glass or targets that shatter are NOT allowed.
15. Clear the range before firing.
16. All firearms must be cleared (actions opened no round in the chamber) or holstered, before checking targets.
17. Pick up your targets and empty casings.
18. Range will be cleaned after each use. Anything brought in, must be taken out.
19. All targets, tables, shooting benches, and chairs are to be returned to their designated area and not to be left on the range.

Targets and Distance Restrictions

Paper Targets - [[ricochet concerns – off the berm]]


High Powered Rifle

• All high velocity calibers .223 and larger will be shot at a range no shorter than 25 yards.


Handgun


• All handgun shooting will be at done at a range no shorter than 5 yards.


Steel shooting - [[ricochet concerns – off the steel]]


High Powered Rifle


• All high velocity calibers .223 and larger will be shot at a range no shorter than 100 yards

There is a minimum rifle distance of 100 yards for ammo traveling up to 3000 fps.
Anything traveling faster than 3000 fps the minimum distance is 200 yards.


Handgun


• All handgun shooting will be at done at no shorter than 10 yards.

Minimum handgun distance of 10 yards for ammo traveling up to 1500 fps.
Anything traveling faster than 1500 fps the minimum distance is 20 yards.
